Dr. Orlo E. Childs, president, uses a vibrating electric tool to sign the diplomas. To win it, the student must complete an intensive course in science, engineering and the humanitites which requires 42 years or longer and involves as much class work as is usually required for the masters degree. Our Fair is growing each year, and from a pre-look at our premium book, this years will be the biggest. A county fair belongs to the people and gives them the opportunity to show off their products.

In other words, it educates the public as to what our county has in the way of resources. It isnt too early to start preparing exhibits. Many backyard gardeners are pointing toward this event to show off their prize squash, flower or tomato. Livestockmen should be thinking about what animals they plan to bring and start giving them a little extra attention. Our county 4-H Clubs are working hard to finish up their wide assortment of exhibits.

The fat livestock project members are working hard to keep that steer or lamb eating so they will be in top shape when the livestock auctioneer calls their animal into the arena. Yes, the county fair is a big event. We hope all of you will do your part in making it the best fair in Northern Arizona. The Fair Premium Books will soon be in the mail to each exhibitor of 1965. Watch this column as to the date of their release so if you need a copy, you can obtain one.

Do you occasionally take inventory of the clothes hanging in a clothes closet? Why clutter a closet with apparel that is out of style or outgrown? During the next two months is an opportune time to get school wardrobes in readiness, and it is surprising what can be remade from used clothing. Take trousers, or slacks, for instance. Can you make them wearable by narrowing the leg and resetting the crease? Lovely A-line jumpers can be made from trousers, or A-line skirts. There are unlimited possibilities in clothing articles that can be made from mens shirts. Sweaters can be properly laundered and reblocked to look like new.

Mrs. Gillespie, extension home economist, suggests a group of women form a sewing circle and profit from a series of workshops in remaking used clothing, and thus extend the clothing budget. Educators 1 Studying Southwest Educators from New Mexico, Nevada, and California, in addition to many Arizona communities are enrolled in the special two-week workshop, Arizona and Southwest History, currently in session for two weeks at Northern Arizona University at Flagstaff. Directed by Dr.

William Lyon, academic chairman of social science at NAU, the workshop is designed for both elementary and secondary history teachers. The use of films, and the interviewing of pioneers through the use of tape recordings are being described and demonstrated in the workshop. Source materials, including those found in the Northern Arizona University Archives, are also being dis-' cussed.
