The role of the boys father, in the production directed by Tal Russell, is played by Clifford E. White, marking probably the first time in American theater history that an actor has played a leading role in a theater named in his honor. Peters, a retired firefighter, died July 14 at Flagstaff Medical Center. He was 71. Memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by Max Lafser at Unity of Flagstaff, 2708 N. Fourth St.

Mr. Peters was bom Aug. 5, 1922, in Hawarden, Iowa. He became a firefighter in Los Angeles in 1951 and worked there until retirement in 1980. He moved to Flagstaff in 1988.

Mr. Peters was a veteran in the U.S. Armys 11th Airborne Division, serving in World War II. He is survived by his companion, Julia Walker, Flagstaff; his mother, Anna Peters, San Diego; son, Dan Peters, Temecula, brothers, Morton Peters, Torrance, and Carl Peters, Pinole, a sister, Mary Bunt, San Diego; and nine grandchildren. Flagstaff Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
