The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Allen Clausen of Flagstaff. The groom is the son of Mr.

and Mrs. Stanley Pierce of Henderson, Nev. Christine is a 1992 graduate of Sinagua High School and currently is employed by ERA Conley Realty. Stan is employed by KAFF radio. Maid of honor will be Jennifer Craig of Flagstaff.

The best man will be Chris Halstead of Flagstaff. A reception and dinner will be held at Little America Hotel. Gito, Collins are engaged Rose Gito, the daughter of Gito Sulau and Mitien Ginis of Kampung Bokah, Sarawak, Malaysia, was formally engaged to Sean Joseph Collins on Jan. 19, 1999. Sean is the son of Laurence Joseph Collins and Marie Annette Pennell, of Flagstaff.

The couple were engaged in Roses hometown of Kampung Bokah. Rose attended Northern Arizona University to earn her bachelors degree in computer information systems, Sean attended NAU to earn a degree in economics. The couple plan to be married in the Church of the Nativity in Flagstaff. The date of the wedding has yet to be decided. Barret, Miller to wed Danielle Barret, the daughter of Gary and Christine Barret, will marry Eric Miller of Sedona on May 15, 1999.

Eric is the son of David and Anita Miller of Santa Rosa, N.M. Danielle is a 1992 graduate of Coconino High School and is employed at $4ew England Business Services. Eric is a 1992 graduate of American School of Chicago and is employed at Oaxaca Restaurant in Sedona. Maid of honor is Angela Zabel oi California. Best man is Russell West-by of Sedona.

The honeymoon will be Oregon. Townsend, Walters to marry in June Kathryn Townsend, the daughter of Homer and Dolores Townsend of Flagstaff, will marry Thomas Walters of Tempe on June 19, 1999. Thomas is the son of Patricia and Carl Craven of Chandler. The couple will be married at Continental Country Club. Kathy is a 1991 graduate of Flagstaff High School and is currently employed at Chilis.

Tom is a 1998 graduate of Northern Arizona University and currently is employed at Fitness for Life. Maid of honor is Stacie Finnell of Flagstaff. Matron of honor is Tammy Martin of Glendale. Best man is Damon Lawrenz of Tempe. A reception will be held at Continental Country Club.

The couple will honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas. 9 a.m. to noon March 8, 10 and 12., Kids 8 and older can learn safe! clirfibing skills while having fun. The cost is $60 for all three days. Pre-registration is required.

Northern Arizona University Personal Professional Development Programs is sponsoring a pair of two-day language-translation workshops specifically designed for health-care, providers who care for Navajo patients. The workshop is designed to help patients better understand a diagno-, sis, treatment plan or prognosis. The workshop also will cover culturally appropriate and sensitive ways to explain many diagnoses and treatments.

The first workshop, for Navajospeaking health-care providers, will be held March 11-12. The second workshop, for English-speaking health care providers, will be held, March 25-26. Roy B. Smith, former patient advocate with the Gallup Indian Medical Center will share what he learned during 23 years of on-the-job experience. Both workshops will be held from 8:30 a.m.

NAU Associate Professor of Anthropology, Cathy Small, is the scheduled speaker. She will discuss the Pipeline Program, a mentoring program designed to increase the number of first-generation college students entering NAU from the Flagstaff Community. The program offers support to talented, at-risk middle-school students who demonstrate academic potential by pairing them with campus faculty in a long-term mentoring program and scholarship. Pipeline is recognized by the Points of Light Foundation and was founded by Small. Cost to attend the meeting is the price of lunch at Fiddlers Restaurant.

Applications are now being accepted for the 1999 Mrs. Arizona-United States and Miss Arizona-USA and Teen-USA pageants. The Mrs. Arizona contest will be held at the Scottsdale Radisson Resort June 5-6. Applicants need to be at least 21 years of age, married and living with their spouse, and be a resident of Arizona.

The winner will represent Arizona in the nationally televised Mrs. United States pageant in Las Vegas in July. The Miss Arizona-USA and Teen-USA pageant will be held in October apartments with kitchens, along with world-class service.
