The law is pretty specific about the penalty that can be incurred for any violations of its provisions. The violator shall be charged with a misdemeanor and is sub ject to a fine of not more th $300, and to imprisonment for not more than 90 days.

If the judge sees fit, and the person charged with the violation is found guilty, he can hand down both fine and sentence. This, of course, is to prevent any nighttime collisions that might occur. If a boat is in use after dark, several sets of lights are required if the boat is powered by a motor. The Mounties, who havent been able to lose to the Seattle Rainiers while playing on the Seattle turf this season, made it seven straight over the Suds, 8-6 and 8-1. The Solons were whitewashed by the resurgent Salt Lake City Bees, 3-0. The Phoenix Giants routed the fading San Diego Padres 9-7 and the third-place Portland Beavers hung close to the leaders with a 3-2 squeaker over the Spokane Indians. The Mounties, getting a four-hit performance from Chuck Estrada in the nightcap at Seattle, packed all of their scoring in the last three innings.

The Rainiers saw some home run power wasted in the first game. Trailing 3-1 going into the last of the fifth, the Suds broke loose for five runs on Carroll Hardy's grand slam homer and Paul Pettits solo homer. Most of Friday night's crowd of 1,320 thought differently. They howled and tossed refuse into the ring after Judges Dick Fazio and Harold McGrath awarded the last three rounds to Calhoun and a 6-4 margin. Referee Joe Palmer saw the middleweight scrap 5-3-2 for Tiger. So did The AP. Calhoun, from White Plains, N.Y., closed fast last June 5 in New Yorks Madison Square Garden to earn a draw with Tiger in a fight good enough to win a quick rematch.

Friday nights effort probably sent a nationwide television and radio audience to bed early. Calhoun, 24, and five years younger than Tiger, showed more aggressiveness toward the end. This probably impressed Fazio and McGrath.
