the Gallup Adds New Features To Inter-Tribal Ceremonies GALLUP, N.M. (Special) -New Mexico's famed Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial will add some new features and revive some old ones in presenting its time-tested formula of an all-Indian program at its 38th renewal here August 13, 14. 15, and 16. The new are the Totonac flyingpole Voladores from Papantla, Mexico and young Alaskan Indian dancers from Port Chilkoot. The Voladores will climax their ritual dancing each afternoon atop an 85- foot pole by swinging to earth tied to long ropes while the Alaskans will appear in the evening dances.

Indian sports of early Ceremonials of the 1920's will be presented with a program of fast Indian horse races, wagon races, hide races, tugs of war, wood chopping contests," watermelon races for kids, and other fun events. A daily contest will be held between the top individual calf ropers of five Indian tribes to determine the Southwestern champion in the only rodeo event. Hoop dancers will also vie in an elimination contest to single out the Indian champion. The Exhibit Hall, a Ceremonial feature that has grown to equal stature with the dances and sports program, will again offer the largest collection of the nation's finest Indian handicraft under one roof at one time in the United States. More than 40 display spaces will be filled by craft dealers, schools and guilds, and individual Indian artisans, and the Hall will also feature a Collectors' Room of old All Projects At ASU Halted In Permit Spat TEMPE (AP) The City of Tempe Friday ordered all construction work halted on the Arizona State University campus.

Some 50 repair and renovation Jobs were shutdown. Paul Wykoff, Tempe building inspector, ordered the work stoppage because the university had failed, to obtain building permit for improvements on a quonset hut. Then Wykoff sent a registered letter to Gilbert Cady, vice president for business affairs at the university, threatening court action if ASU construction continued in violation of a Tempe ordinance requiring building permits. Wykoff contends the city has the right to assess building permits from state agencies within the Tempe city limits. Les Hardy, chief assistant attorney general, doesn't agree.

He said his office Monday would file an application for an injunction asking that Tempe be restrained from regulating university construction. And Cady said he just hopes the controversy is settled soon because all remodeling work should be completed by the time freshmen arrive Sept. 7. And the university plans to start work soon on a one million dollar College of Liberal Arts building. Sears Honored For Service To 4-H Clubs TUCSON (Special) The ScarsRoebuck Foundation was given a citation by The University of Arizona for its "outstanding service to 4-H" at the Recognition Banquet which concluded the four-day 4-11 Roundup on the UA campus on Thursday night, Aug.

6. The citation, first one ever awarded for support of the 4-H program in Arizona, was given to Stewart Pettigrew, national vice. president of the Sears Roebuck Foundation and director of its Western Region. In making the presentation, Dr. Robert L.

Nugent, executive vicepresident of The University of Arizona, reviewed the many contributions the Sears-Roebuck Foundation has made to the 4-H program in Arizona during the past 10 years. Chief among the projects which received Sears-Rocbuck financial support, according to Dr. Nugent, has been the 4-H Club Leaders Conferences held yearly at The University of Arizona and at Arizona State College in Flagstaff for junior and senior 4-H leaders in the state. Among other 4-H projects supported by Sears-Roebuck since 1948 have been the Yuma County Dairy Project from 1952-55, the 1952 4-H Roundup at Safford, 4-H Livestock Projects at Globe, Safford and Flagstaff in 1949, the Greenlee County Dairy Project in 1954. the 4-H Club Auction in Tucson in 1949, the Graham County Dairy Project in 1954, the 4-11 Club Camp in Coconino County from 1955 to 1958, the 4-H Gilt Project in Pinal County in 1955, equipment for the Yavapai County 4-Hi Club from 1953-55, and sending delegates to the National 4-H Club Conterence in Washington, D.

Therefore his wedding will be performed two weeks from today i in the "new" Lunde church. The son of New York Gov. Nelson A.

Rockefeller appeared before reporters and photographers with Anne Marie Rasmussen outside the home of the bride's father. He confined details of the nuptials to the choice of the church. "If I give you everything about the wedding now." he said, "you won't have anything to write at the time of the wedding and then you'd be the ones who were sorry." Steven had wanted to be married in the three century -old church in Sogne because of its tradition and primitive beauty, but Anne Marie insisted on the "new" church where she was christened and confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran faith. Steven yielded and judging from his good humor he regarded it as something less than a crisis. Ammonia Fumes Hit Texas Town; 100 Evacuated IOWA PARK.
